Last Thursday night was the first of hopefully many more enjoyable, Christ-filled gatherings of Christian Students on Campus this semester. At 5:30pm, students began flowing into the Sanchez building, where a delicious dinner was prepared for hungry stomachs. The room was filled with a sweet atmosphere of fellowship and care as we partook of our dinners with exultation and simplicity of heart (Acts 2:42).

As the physical meal concluded, the spiritual meal was just beginning with prayer and worship. We sang to the Lord in spirit, drawing near to the Lord’s presence. It didn’t take long to be thoroughly filled in spirit through singing and psalming with our hearts to the Lord (Eph. 5:18-19).

With spirits filled, it was time for the Word of God. Two students reviewed the message from the Welcome Dinner we had the previous week on the divine romance.

When you think of God, what comes to mind?

Yes, He is your helper, your friend, your creator, your master, even your king. But Isaiah 54:5 reveals that your Maker is your Husband.

For your Maker is your Husband… –Isaiah 54:5

Our God doesn’t just want to care for us or to shepherd us, but He loves us so much that He gave up His only Son for us. From John 3:16, we saw that God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten Son. He doesn’t just “love us”, He “so loves us,” just like a husband so loves his wife. God wants to be our Husband, our Bridegroom and for us to be His wife, His bride. From the very beginning of the Bible from the picture of Adam and Eve in Genesis 2 to the marriage of the Lamb in Revelation 19, we can see that God desires to have a counterpart, a wife, a lover. What an awesome God we have!

God wants to marry man, but marriage requires a match, so man has to match God. For this, man was made in God’s image (Gen. 1:26). However, God desires not only an outward match, but an inward match. He wants to impart His very life and nature into man and mingle Himself with man so that he would match Him.

Principle of Incarnation

This is the principle of incarnation: God entering into man and mingling Himself with man. This was first accomplished in the man Christ Jesus, who was the incarnation of God on earth. Today, the principle of incarnation is being repeated in many believers, into whom God enters as the Spirit. The ultimate manifestation of the principle of incarnation is the oneness of God and man as revealed in 1 Cor. 6:17.

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit. –1 Corinthians 6:17

Through the prayer of God’s people who are joined to Him and one with Him, God has a way to move on this earth to gain more people as a part of His bride..

We’re looking forward to many more Thursday nights this semester filled with food – both physical and spiritual. So if you are hungry, we will be on the ground floor of the Sanchez every Thursday night at 5:30 pm for dinner and unimaginably rich fellowship from the Bible. These Thursday night gatherings are welcome to all, so please join us and bring a friend!
