Summer is busy season here at UT Austin. We’ve been introducing Christian Students on Campus to dozens of new freshmen orientees every week. Our message as we meet them has been simple: get connected!

We mean get connected to the Lord Jesus Himself and to other believers with whom to run the Christian race.

In this post I’d like to mention a helpful resource for anyone interested in getting connected to other Christians by reading the Word. It’s a website that facilitates reading the Bible in small groups.

We’ve all had the experience of embarking on an optimistic reading schedule and fizzling out. That’s why this website helps you – it connects you and at least one other positively inclined believer who wants to read the Word. Together, your accountability and encouragement help keep the schedule and reap the rewards.

“How shall one chase a thousand, / And two put ten thousand to flight” -Deuteronomy 32:30

That website is lettheword.com. It’s a simple idea started by some students at the University of Georgia in Athens, and now is being used by Christians all over the country. So check it out! Get a friend or two to sign up with you and start reading the Word!

Another (local) resource for getting connected is the Summer Reading Challenge at CSOC – If you’re a student at UT interested in joining our Summer Reading Challenge, sign up online! We’re reading the Gospel of John in 30 days, and we’ll meet at the beginning of the Fall Semester to discuss what we read. Check out #JohnChallenge for tweets from fellow readers.
