Christian Students on Campus (CSOC UT Austin) has been a registered student organization at The University of Texas at Austin since 1973. We’re a community of students who desire to know and experience Jesus in a personal way. We meet regularly for Bible studies, worship, fellowship events, and service opportunities.
Any UT student! We welcome students of all backgrounds, majors, and levels of familiarity with the Christian faith. Whether you’re a committed Christian or just curious about who Jesus is, CSOC UT Austin provides a friendly environment to learn and grow together.

Like other large, active Christian clubs at UT, CSOC is also affiliated with a local church, the church in Austin, which is not denominational. However, CSOC members are encouraged to meet on Sunday wherever the Lord leads them. CSOC members come from a wide variety of denominational/ nondenominational backgrounds and traditions. We focus on the core truths of the Christian faith that all believers share (check out the What We Believe page to see our statement of faith). In fact, that’s why we chose the name Christian Students on Campus—because the club is just Christian students pursuing their faith on the UT Austin campus!

We can’t believe we have to say this, but no, CSOC is not a cult. Christian Students on Campus is a Christian organization that fully embraces and adheres to the fundamental, orthodox tenets of the Christian faith, which we outline on our What We Believe page. Additionally, in our 50 plus years of history at UT Austin, we have maintained excellent standing with the university and have never been investigated for any form of wrongdoing.
Part of the hallmark of a cult is control. We do not and will never exert any form of control over others. In fact, we strive for the exact opposite. We believe it is God’s unique right to lead the believers in Christ by the Holy Spirit.
Unfortunately, the word “cult” gets thrown around liberally these days. Though it’s not necessarily done in malice, it can still cause untold damage and division in the Body of Christ. We hope all believers would think critically about this type of accusation against any Christian group, looking into their beliefs and practices before writing them off as heretics or villains.
Send us an email through the website, direct message us on social media, or speak to a club officer at any of our events. We welcome questions, and we’re here to help!
